COLLEGE DEMOCRATS OF CONNECTICUT SLAM AUGUST WOLF FOR ATTENDING WALKER FUNDRAISER
For Immediate Release: Thursday, July 30, 2015
Storrs, Conn. –
Yesterday, Republican senatorial candidate August Wolf attended a Greenwich fundraiser for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s presidential campaign. The College Democrats of Connecticut released the following statement.
“After appearing at a fundraiser for out-of-touch Governor Walker, there are some questions that August Wolf should answer to the residents — and particularly students — of Connecticut,” said Miles Halpine, College Democrats of Connecticut president. “Does August Wolf support Walker’s record of slashing higher education funding and increasing student debt? Does Wolf support Wisconsin Governor’s new budget that will cut at least $250 million from the University of Wisconsin system and eliminate 400 jobs at UW-Madison — an institution which contributes $15 billion to the state’s economy? If Wolf is not even willing to answer simple questions about higher education, where does he stand on Walker’s growing WEDC Scandal or Walker’s overreaching legislation that will regulate women’s health?”
“Unlike Governor Walker, our own Senator Richard Blumenthal has been and continues to be a steadfast advocate and supporter of affordable higher education for all students in Connecticut,” said Jessica DeFelice, Vice President for the College Democrats of Connecticut. “Whether it’s introducing a bill to help veterans pursuing higher education or holding for-profit institutions accountable, ensuring that college is affordable for all students is clearly a top priority for Senator Blumenthal.”
